Effective Crop Management and Modern Breeding Strategies to Ensure Higher Crop Productivity under Direct Seeded Rice Cultivation System: A Review

چکیده
Paddy production through conventional puddled system of rice cultivation (PTR) is becoming more and unsustainable—economically environmentally—as this method highly resource intensive these resources are increasingly scarce, consequently, expensive. The ongoing large-scale shift from PTR to direct seeded (DSR) necessitates a convergence breeding, agronomic other approaches for its sustenance harnessing natural environmental benefits. Current DSR technology largely based on interventions applied the selected varieties PTR. In DSR, poor crop establishment due low germination, lack DSR-adapted varieties, high weed-nematode incidences micronutrient deficiency primary constraints. approach review paper discuss existing evidences related technologies. highlights large number conventionally/molecularly characterized strains amenable rapid transfer consolidation along with refinements, mechanization water-nutrient-weed management strategies develop complete, ready use package. provides information traits, donors, genes/QTL needed available breeding lines. Furthermore, supplemented discussion constrains policies in scaling up adoption.

Effect of Weed Management and Seed Rate on Crop Growth under Direct Dry Seeded Rice Systems in Bangladesh
Weeds are a major constraint to the success of dry-seeded rice (DSR). The main means of managing these in a DSR system is through chemical weed control using herbicides. However, the use of herbicides alone may not be sustainable in the long term. Approaches that aim for high crop competitiveness therefore need to be exploited. One such approach is the use of high rice seeding rates. Experiment...

A 3- years (2015, 2016 and 2017) field study was carried out at National Wheat Research Program, Bhirahawa, Rupandehi, Nepal to evaluate the influence of crop residues and nitrogen levels on rice. The experiment was conducted in split plot design with three replications. Main plots were two crop residue levels (with crop residues of 30 cm wheat stubble and without crop residues) and sub plots c...

متن کاملIncreasing Crop Productivity When Water is Scarce – From Breeding to Field Management
To increase crop yield per unit of scarce water requires both better cultivars and better agronomy. The challenge is to manage the crop or improve its genetic makeup to: capture more of the water supply for use in transpiration; exchange transpired water for CO2 more effectively in producing biomass; and convert more of the biomass into grain or other harvestable product. In the field, the uppe...
